Northumberlandia Sculpture: Goddess of the North
Work on the Northumberlandia landmark sculpture, the Goddess of the North, on the Blagdon Estate in Cramlington is well underway and expected to be open to the public by 2013.
Looking to be the largest human form to be sculpted into the land in the world we are proud to be situated right on the doorstep.
The sculpture will be in the shape of a woman lying down, formed from a series of hills using 1.5 million tonnes of soil and clay excavated from the Shotton mine near Cramlington.
Designed by world renowned landscape architect and designer Charles Jencks who is best known in the North East for his DNA sculpture outside the Centre for Life in Newcastle.
